Hunting grounds — Banat

Banat is the eastern part of Vojvodina — a plain where large fields, canals, marshes and belts of woodland alternate. That mosaic holds dense game and makes the region one of the most accessible for hunters setting out from Belgrade, foreign guests included.

Game and landscape

Flat terrain means long views and walking, not mountain stalking. The main species:

• Wild boar — the most widespread and the most flexible to schedule; strong tuskers in the marshes and reserves.
• Roebuck — open fields and forest edges; a spring–summer trophy.
• Red deer — in the larger complexes (e.g. Deliblatska peščara and fenced sections); the rut falls in early autumn.
• Small game — pheasant, hare and grey partridge, with wild duck along the canals and marshes; reed-and-pond ground calls for longer walks.

Some grounds are fenced (e.g. parts of Deliblatska peščara), where deer and boar management is more intensive and the hunt is easier to organise.

The driven-hunt tradition

Banat is known for the group driven hunt for wild boar: beaters and dogs push game toward shooters posted on stands and passes. Several drives a day are typically arranged for groups, often combined with small game (a pheasant and hare drive) during the same visit. It is a social, traditional format — before you come, confirm group size, the number of drives and the safety rules with the ground.

Getting there (from Belgrade)

Southern Banat is closest: Pančevo sits just across the Danube, 20–30 min from central Belgrade. Deliblatska peščara is roughly 80 km (~1–1.5 h). Central Banat (around Zrenjanin) is about 70–90 km. The nearest airport is Belgrade (BEG); most guests arrive by car or a transfer arranged by the ground.
